About us

Built by people who started on the commercial side and got tired of homeowners being treated like a transaction.

Stormshield started as a commercial roofing company — hospitals, warehouses, schools, big-box retail. Big jobs, big crews, big margin for error. We built the company on the discipline that kind of work requires. Then we kept getting asked by friends and neighbors: "Can you do my house too?"

The short version.

We're a family operation. The same family that runs Stormshield Commercial — and we wanted to build a residential arm that brought commercial-grade discipline to neighborhood homes, without the storm-chaser, door-knocker, insurance-steering nonsense that residential roofing has come to mean.

Stormshield Residential is its own crew, its own foremen, its own books. We share a name and a standard of work with the commercial side. Beyond that, we operate independently — and we run lean. No commission-driven salespeople walking your block after a hailstorm. No high-pressure "if you sign tonight" pitches. No outsourced sub-crews you've never met.

What we believe — practically.

Roofing is a trade. Treat it like one.

Most of what's gone wrong with residential roofing in the last twenty years comes down to one thing: too many companies treating it like a sales business with a roofing arm, instead of a roofing business that sells. Our foremen are tradesmen. Our salespeople aren't on commission. The estimate you get is the same estimate someone else would get for the same roof.

Write down the spec. Live by it.

Every estimate we write spells out exactly what's going on the roof — brand, model, nail pattern, underlayment, ice and water coverage, ventilation plan, flashing replacement. If a competitor's bid is cheaper, it's almost always because they're leaving something out. We'd rather you see exactly what's different than win on a number that doesn't tell the whole story.

The crew that quotes the job is the crew that does the job.

We don't sell the work in front and sub it out the back. The lead foreman who walks your roof on day one is the same lead foreman who walks it with you at packout. The same crew handles warranty calls if anything ever comes up.

Stay close to home.

Our service area is roughly 25 miles. We don't work multi-state. We don't dispatch from a regional call center. Our suppliers, our crews, and our shop are all inside Oakland County. That's not a limitation — it's the point.

What we don't do.

Our credentials.
